Theme

The Ugly Duckling

The theme of The Ugly Duckling is that you belong somewhere. It doesn't matter if the crowd doesn't like you. Sooner or later you are going to come around people who accept you for who you are. I think that the author was trying to prove to us that there are going to be groups of friends that will laugh at you because you're different. That doesn't mean you should just give up and stop being yourself because of them. He used The Ugly Duckling as being the outsider. The baby duck went to different types of families, even a toy duck, to at least find someone who truly loves him. He just wanted someone to accept him. It came upon a point that he just wanted to give up. The baby duck thought that no one would ever bring him into their home. All that he could do was cry, until a group of ducks that looked just like him came floating by. They accepted him. When he swam with his new family, he saw the other ducks who wouldn't give him the love he wanted. Having his head up high he knew that he would never have to go through this again. Basically the ugly duckling turned out to be a beautiful swan.

  2. I agree with the theme that you choose for the story, you belong somewhere. I believe the author was trying to say that everyone should accept people just as they are. There was another theme that I found in the story, don't judge a person by their appearance. Others never know what that person is like on the inside when others don't give them a chance just by their appearance.

  3. I agree with the theme because it pinpoints the mains parts in the story. Another theme coud be that everybody that smiles in your face and say that you're their friend could sometimes be the same ones laughing behind your back. The author conducted the theme based on the main characters characterists.

  4. I agree with shatonna theme because not everybody is going to except you by how you are .Another theme that i can see is that you don't need to let other people bully you. The author constructed this theme when the Ugly Duckling was being rejected from the family's that he try to fit in
